Michelle is a London based artist and gardener.
Michelle originally trained in fashion and fabric design creating bespoke printed garments and costumes. Which led to work in film and advertising, making costumes, set design and then as an early adopter of digital media, in tv graphics and mutli level platforms. Michelle has won awards for short films and animations, and worked as a digital artist and university lecturer.
A desire to ‘be outside’ led to Michelle returning to an old love and retraining in horticulture, winning a RHS gold medal for her first show garden began a new career as a garden designer and wildlife friendly gardener.
"I have sustained my creative practice, careers have often overlapped, a TV graphics sequence inspired by charcoal ,strokes of life drawings, a series of frocks printed with dead flowers, a gold medal winning show garden design featuring printed fabrics, which enabled a brief but welcome return to screen printing.
It was during lockdown that my desire to create using drawing , painting and printmaking, deepened, ignited ideas , causing me to refocus on making and to recognise the importance of working creatively. 'creatively.
